
Swedish Meatballs
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 1/3 cup chopped onions
- 1.5 cups dry bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 3/4 cup milk
- olive oil
- 6 cups beef stock
- 8 Tbsp flour
- 1.5 Tbsp lemon juice
- 3 bay leaves
Instructions
- To make the meatballs, mix the beef, onions, bread crumbs, eggs, salt, sugar, pepper together. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls. Brown in olive oil
- Remove meatballs from pan. Save drippings for gravy
- To make gravy, blend flour into the pan with the leftover drippings on low heat.
- Slowly stir in stock and bring to a boil, stirring often.
- After gravy comes to a boil, stir in lemon juice and bay leaves.
- Put meatballs back into the gravy and cook slowly for 1 hour.
- Serve over egg noodles
