Turkey Sausage
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp white pepper (can use black pepper)
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- pinch marjoram
- ***can substitute 1 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning for sage and marjoram**
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix all spices.
- In a larger bowl, place ground turkey. Sprinkle seasonings over turkey and mix VERY WELL with hands until all the seasonings are distributed throughout meat
- Next, you can form patties and fry them or use as ground turkey sausage in a recipe such as sausage gravy and biscuits or in a breakfast casserole.
- I use a small amount of oil and non stick spray when cooking the sausage to prevent it from sticking.
I’ve made this twice- first
time with the poultry seasoning- I had to spray the pan with nonstick olive oil for some moisture but it was very yummy- second time I added 1 egg and used the sage seasoning- sprayed pan with nonstick spray and towards the end of the cooking process added a little chicken broth . It had a little more moisture to me that way but very tasty! Both ways were awesome and I thought the sage made it a little more spicy then the poultry seasoning- thank you for sharing your recipes – I’ve gotten great ideas from them !
