Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Fresh berries optional topping
  • Sliced bananas optional topping
  • Chopped nuts optional topping

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine rolled oats, milk, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, honey, and vanilla extract.
  3. Once the oats have absorbed most of the milk (about 5-7 minutes), reduce the heat to low. Gradually whisk in the egg mixture, stirring constantly to avoid scrambling the egg.
  4. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the oatmeal thickens and becomes creamy.
  5. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Top with fresh berries, sliced bananas, and chopped nuts for extra texture and flavor.
