Equipment
- Slow Cooker
Ingredients
- 2 large apples, sliced***see notes below
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- pinch salt
- 2 cups oatmeal (I prefer Old Fashioned, but quick cook will do)
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- In a slow cooker, place apples in the bottom, then sprinkle on the brown sugar, then cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Pour in 2 cups oatmeal, then 2 cups milk over the oats, then 2 cups water. DO NOT STIR!!!
- Cook overnight for 8 hours on low (my quick oats were done in 7 hours).
- Stir and serve – I served with a tsp of walnuts and some vanilla creamer.
Notes
You can change this up to suit your tastes – in place of apples use berries (about 2 cups mixed berries)
Could you use a white sugar substitute? I haven’t been able to find brown sugar substitute yet.
Yes! I’m sure you can. I get my brown sugar substitute from Amazon. I like the Sukrin Gold. I have it linked in my Amazon store – the link is on the home page 🙂
I’ve found Swerve Brown Sugar at Sprouts and Amazing. I prefer it over Surkin Gold. Everyone has different tastes.

Where the 1 point on purple? 1/4 cup of almond milk is 0. Is it in the walnuts?
The recipe uses 2 cups almond milk, so each serving gets 1/2 cup, that rounds up to 1 point on purple. I put it in the recipe builder and that’s what it gave me!
Sorry. I misspelled my email.
